Corrections Canada Shoulder Title (Coarse)

This is the first pattern Correctional Service of Canada shoulder title as applied to the new khaki tunics introduced in 1979.  As part of the reorganization of the Canadian Penitentiary and National Parole Services into one “Correctional Service” a new departmental identity programme was launched. This entailed, among other things, the introduction of a new badge and a new uniform for Correctional staff.  The new uniform was changed from Air-Force blue, to a Khaki beige tunic and shirt with Khaki green pants or, in the case of dress uniforms for women officers, a khaki green skirt.  Another working uniform, entirely in khaki green, with a safari-style jacket over a yellow wool sweater, was also issued to women officers. Hence the requirement for new colours for the shoulder titles, which now appeared in Khaki green with white lettering.  They incorporated one half of the Canadian flag to the left along with the abbreviated title “CORRECTIONS CANADA”. There are two versions, the coarsely- woven type as shown here, as well as a more common lighter fabric version with a satin finish.
