Penitentiary Museum FAQ
General Questions How much is admission?

Admission to the museum is by donation. All funds collected are used to further develop the museum and its services. Donations are collected by the Friends of the Penitentiary Museum, a registered charitable organization (charity # 87852 0964 RR0001).

When is the last admission?

The last public admission to the building is at 4:00pm daily. Visitors who enter the building by 4:00pm will have enough time to view the exhibits before the daily "lock-down".

Are reservations necessary?

Between May and October we highly recommend that groups of 10 or more call the museum in advance. Call 613.530.3122.

In the off-season (November through April), reservations are necessary for all visits. Staff availability is limited, so we apologize that we cannot accommodate all requests.

Do you offer guided tours?

Tours of the museum are self-guided. However we have staff on hand to answer questions and we try to have volunteers on site enhance your visiting experience.

Is there parking available?

Yes. Our parking lot is adjacent to the museum. There are designated bus and disabled visitor spaces. See "Locate Cedarhedge" in the sidebar for directions to the museum.
